CASE STUDY: Festival

Clients/Partners: LEAF Community Arts

LEAF Community Arts is a non-profit organization, building community, connecting cultures and enriching lives through the arts – locally and globally – with festivals, community events and arts education programs. For 22 years, each May & October an intergenerational family of 12,000 people join together upon the beautiful Lake Eden grounds to experience the power music, art and culture has to transform lives, strengthen community, and foster unity.

We produced a dynamic video to spotlight the spirit of the festival.

Main objectives:

Produce a dynamic promotional video to excite viewers with festival highlights

Showcase the gorgeous festival grounds at the historic site on Lake Eden

Exhibit the family-friendly atmosphere and artistic expression that makes this festival so unique

We wanted this video to be fast-paced and filled to the brim with footage, so we opted to create a music video by cutting creative footage to the beat of a track provided by the headlining band of the festival.

The video is featured on the LEAF Community Arts website, YouTube channel, and shared to very receptive audience via social media.

CASE STUDY: Conference

Clients/Partners: Apostacon

Apostacon is an annual conference that brings in world-renowned scientists (such as Neil deGrasse Tyson and Laurence Krauss) and nationally recognized speakers from the freethought community to address topics concerning humanism, secularism and skepticism.

The conference embraces the parody religion of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, so we produced a spotlight video with a lighthearted nature.

Main objectives:

Share testimonials from high profile key speakers to encapsulate the event

Provide background for the importance of conferences on this subject matter

Help drive attendance at future conferences

In order to exemplify the speakers and also promote attendance, so we filmed several formal staged interviews on-location at the conference and captured b-roll throughout the event.

Apostacon featured the video on the home page of their website, and it was distributed on social media by celebrity speakers and thousands of attendees.

CASE STUDY: Direct Action

Clients/Partners: Dogwood Alliance

Today’s biggest threat to Southern forests is the growing biomass industry. The wood pellet industry is expanding at a rate that is impossible for Southern forests to sustain. Our beautiful forests are being clear-cut, processed into pellets and then shipped to Europe to be burned for electricity.

On November 13th, as the wood products industry meets in Chesapeake, VA to celebrate the destruction and export of our incredible forests, people from across the US came together for a National Day of Action to send an SOS to Save Our Southern forests. Following the press conference, speakers and local community activists boarded a boat with a banner reading “SOS – Save Our Southern Forests”, with a plan to disrupt a scheduled conference tour of Enviva’s Port of Chesapeake export terminal.

We were on the ground (and boat) to document the action.

Demonstrate the power of direct action for protest

Show how the organization is actively taking action against the issue they are fighting

Bring the issue into the spotlight and educate viewers by providing background context for the action

We thought it was important to stage formal interviews with organizers of the event as well as show them in action. We combined footage from the press conference with b-roll filmed on location during the direct action.
