CASE STUDY: Appalachian Woodlands Alliance

Clients/Partners: Rainforest Alliance, Staples, Domtar, Avery-Dennison, Kimberly Clark, Evergreen Packaging

The Appalachian Woodlands Alliance (AWA) is a partnership between the Rainforest Alliance and forest products leaders Staples, Avery Dennison, Columbia Forest Products, Domtar, Evergreen Packaging, Kimberly-Clark, and the US Forest Service. Working with private landowners, this project aims to improve the productivity and health of forests in the southeastern US by fostering sustainable practices. Through the AWA, landowners can get the tools and training they need to strengthen their market connections and thrive in the future.

We produced a video about the inaugural landowner outreach event to attract landowners and partners for future convenings.

Main objectives:

Engage landowners in the region and encourage them to participate in outreach and education initiatives that advocate for sustainable forest management

Provide the Rainforest Alliance and partners with an overview of the project to share with stakeholders, outlining their involvement and the positive impacts

Create marketing material to drive participation at upcoming events

We filmed the AWA and participants during an outreach event and captured the experience as they embarked on a “field trip” in the forest. Interviews with key players were captured on-location and a scripted voice over narrative provided background of the event.

The video was distributed by participating companies through email newsletter blasts and blog articles. It is also featured on the Appalachian Woodlands Alliance website.
